Gail Kurpgeweit, President & CEO
Gail Kurpgeweit opened her first Italian restaurant in 1990 in downtown Spokane, followed by a career in the consulting industry focused on business management and marketing. In 2010 Gail decided to return to her love of cooking and baking by enrolling in culinary school and starting a gourmet cupcake business. She named the company "Taste of Amazing" because of the response she received from so many of her friends, family, and customers after trying her delectable creations.
From there, the menu offerings expanded to offer custom wedding and special occasion cakes, pies, cheesecakes, and other desserts, as well as a selection of gourmet entrees and full Personal Chef catering services.
Gail has three daughters and a son-in-law, and lives with her family in the Issaquah Highlands where she is very active in the community. She regularly volunteers at Pacific Cascade Middle School, on behalf of the Issaquah Schools Foundation and Soma Community Church, and coaches basketball for Issaquah Parks and Recreation.
What's your favorite food memory? My Gramma would make pies out of random ingredients - whatever she had on hand - and they always turned out delicious. I remember how excited everyone would get when she'd make her Paul Harvey pie. (She named it that because she happened to be listening to his radio show when she made it the first time.) It was fantastic!
Favorite thing to do when not cooking: Hanging out with my girls and riding my motorcycle.
What's your favorite chef-prepared meal that's in season right now? I think the Bourbon BBQ Babyback Ribs are just fantastic!

Loves to cook: Everything! I love baking, I love the spicier dishes, and I always come back to the classic French dishes and sauces. Do I really have to choose?
Current favorite: Coconut cupcakes
Outside interests: Golf, travel
Secret love: Dancing! I haven't done it in ages but I'd love to get back into it.
What I love about Savory Moment/Taste of Amazing: I used to work at a restaurant where I cooked with lots of butter and cream. It's refreshing to make new versions of old favorites.
